Dear Thomas,
Slugs need to be unique and if one taxonomy has a term with a slug "test-slug", no other taxonomy term can have the same slug. Terms are all kept in one table for all taxonomies and the slug field must be unique.
But, maybe there's something else to this, I think. Can you provide a concrete example of the steps you are taking, using real names/slugs?
