We often have the scenario in which we need a specific menu item to be highlighted as the parent of all posts in a custom post type. Here's the scenario. . .
Say we have a custom post type called "People". We also have a regular page title "People Archive" which just includes a list of links to each Person. The issue is that, when viewing a single Person, I want the People Archive page to be recognized as the parent of the Person, and thus inherit the CSS that indicates it's the active parent/section. On top of this, I'd like to set a default so that every new Person I create is automatically recognized as a "child" of the People Archive page. In other words, the entire People post type should be a child of the specific People Archive page.
Is there a way to do this?
