Custom Post Types and Bulk Change WordPress Built-In Template

Every once in a while I come up against something that defies logic. WordPress has several built-in bulk edit functions for pages and posts. On pages, one can bulk edit which template is being utilized…be it default, full width…etc…

However, posts also utilize the wordpress templates….and yet there is no such bulk editing feature for posts.

I came up against this today after revising my single view display settings….and have spent the day trying to find a function, a plugin, or some other way to change all of my custom posts that have been built in types/views from the default left side-bar to layout to a full width layout.

It's interesting, because the views-templates offer a choice as to which layout to use, but this does not override the default settings on existing posts…

Therefore, I will have to open and close over 400 posts individually to update them.

I think that bulk editing feature are very important as a site grows…and that the way types/views hooks into the existing wordpress structure needs to address this type of issue.

That's all.

Regards,
Will
