Map Types Custom Field to a template customer Field

Hi
Our WordPress template uses a number of custom fields to control a post or pages sidebar e.g. left, right, no-sidebar and what sidebar to show.

I'm looking for an easier way to control these settings.

Is it possible to either incorporate the existing custom fields into the post's edit form or to create a Types custom field (that I can then embed in the post edit page or on a CRED form) that is mapped to the template's custom fields. So I can then control the sidebars using these Types fields?
