If I downgrade WPML to 2.9.3 or 2.9.2 things work fine for types and the select file works (but WPML has a media management problems with wp 3.8.1 so its unusable)

You have super user priviliges and its a dev site so add or move anything you like if you need CPanel access I can give that too

I worked around it on the live site by activating the editor for all the post types and then hiding the editor with some admin display:none CSS. the javascript seems to load from the invisable TinyMCE.
