I'm creating a Parametric Search for my website and I had a few questions.
1. I would like to have a dropdown form that would allow a visitor to select from one of three different post types I've created, then a State, and finally a City. The first question is how do I create a view that will allow a visitor to select which custom post type they'd like to search for? I've been playing with views and can set the view to query all the post types, but I haven't found how to allow the visitor to select the specific post type they want.
2. My second question is about Field Dependencies, I've created a Taxonomy named "Location", this taxonomy is hierarchical and contains first the State, and then the City, this taxonomy is registered to my three different custom post types. In my Parametric Search I would like to be able to have my visitors first select the post type they'd like then the State based on if there are any of those post types available in that State and then Populate the cities based on which state they chose and if there are any available post types. My question is how would I go about accomplishing this? I understand that you had Field Dependencies on your todo list, has it come along? If not, should I have this created as an external plugin? What should I ask for when getting quotes on plugin creation, what languages will need to be used, and do you have an API for a developer so it can play friendly with Types, Views, and CRED?
I understand that their are other customers searching for this functionality so an in depth answer would be great!
Thank you,
Shelby
