Field Dependencies – select one field, auto-poplulate a second field.

When adding a child post to a parent post in the WordPress backend, I would like to able to use a drop-down select to pick a "Name" custom field and then a "description" field would be auto-populated (using value pairs I set up elsewhere).

Someone on the support staff said "there is a plan to support field dependencies in CRED and maybe Views"

Is there a way to currently do this with Types and Views? Is there a workaround I coudl use to the same effect?
