Using Views to show information from two different custom posts

Hi,

I'm sure this has been covered somehow/somewhere, but I've read quite a few posts and I think I'm just getting myself more confused. I need to build a site for a game where when a user signs in (created ahead of time), a custom post type of *player* is created for them if one doesn't already exist. I figured out how to do that thanks to a post by CaridadZ. This player post contains custom fields that store data collected from the user as they progress through the game (name, organization, title, etc). I've got another custom post type called *game* that stores general information about the game such as start/end dates, facilitator information, etc. I've got (or tried to create) a template created that shows information based on the current logged in user which is being pulled from both their player page and the parent game page.

I made the player post type a child to the games post type, thinking that I'd be able to pull the relevant data from the game post into the player profile by referencing id="$games". I've set the desired game post to the player(s) in the Fields section of the individual player post as indicated in several posts I read about parent/child relationships. However, I cannot get any data to display from the parent post of the player in a template or View on a page that I create called Profile.

To summarize, I have two different post types, one for player information and one for game information. I need to be able to display aspects of each on a given page.

What am I missing?
