Parametric search using WP default date value

Hi,

I'm Interested in filtering by the default date value with my parametric search, but as I understand it that is not possible. One must create a custom date field and filter that way. Is that correct? Also, I see the above thread was closed with a note that it may be implemented in the next version of the plugin. If so, do you know it will be released?
