Yes, I am running the latest version of Types. And unfortunately, finding another theme or deactivating plugins isn't an option for me.
I found a work-around with this, in case anyone else has this problem.
I added another custom field for "shoot-display" and kept the date field for sorting purposes only since that seems to work properly. So when entering profile information, if there is a next shoot date, I essentially enter it twice: once by choosing the date on the calendar for the date field, for sorting purposes within my view, and then the second time for display purposes and how I would like for it to show within my view (which is done with a single line custom field). It's a tad redundant, but it accomplishes what I need without finding a new theme or different plugins.
