Reply To: [Waiting for user feedback] Cannot set default value for front end filter

Ok, it seems my WP-Views plugin was out of date but I wasn't alerted to this via the Dashboard. Strange!
Updated the plugin and I can now set default values for the select boxes when editing the filter controls.

Brings me to a related question though: how can I simply make the pre-selected item the first item on the list (or currently queried item) and remove the ability for the user to search for "all" taxonomies?

HTML 5 support for WP-Views

I'm wondering when will Views support the HTML 5 placeholder tag so that we can pre-populate text into a text field that then disappears when the user clicks into it?
Is there a known workaround for this?

each Taxonomy Link leads to archive view – suggestions for a workaround ?

Dear all,

by testing and reading in the forum I found out that every Link of Taxonomy (default or custom) leads to the archive view of a defined view.
ok.

But is there a workaround to have some kinds of categories (taxonomies) which links lead to the defined view (view template)
instead of creating a filtered view for each category ?

The most important reason for this is for me an obviously for many others (as stated in this forum) to have the pagination working like in the "normal" view (view template).

Dear Tim,
Thanks for the detailed screenshot. I have replicated this bug in our local test server and filed a report to the developer. This will hopefully be fixed soon. Please let me know if you are satisfied with my answer and if I can help you with any other questions you might have. Thanks.

Dear David,
Archive view content is already supplied by WordPress. You can find more information here: http://wp-types.com/documentation/user-guides/normal-vs-archive-views/
To customize the sorting of an archive view, one method you can implement is to create normal View that allows customized sorting and then insert the shortcode into your archive. You can read more information about this technique here: http://wp-types.com/forums/topic/sort-archive-view-alphabetical-or-another-order/
Please let me know if you are satisfied with my answer and if I can help you with any other questions you might have.

Cheers,
Emerson

[types field="date-available" style="text" format="F j, Y"][/types]

Dear bro,

I designed a site in Vietnamese, similar with an blog network. The problem is when I use Types plugin to create content, the author page pagination not work.
Wordpress can list video item of admin very good at: http://tamsao.com/video/tvnguyen_tamsao_admin_2012_1452
But return 404 on page 2: http://tamsao.com/video/tvnguyen_tamsao_admin_2012_1452/page/2

I am using "pre_get_posts" add_action method. Everything good with post types archive, but got problem on author post types archive.

Appreciate all feedback,

Thank you very much,
Tien

CRED Create and insert parent member id shortcode

$

Hello

I have a situation where I have members amd clubs and am creating a many to many relationship via a third table called memberships.

To do this I want to add a simple button on the club page that is a CRED form that pre-selects all of the fields needed to create the link.

I can do all of the following:

- pre-define the post title
- pre-define the post slug
- pre-define the default values for membership data fields
- pre-define the club parent
- eliminate all space taken up by the above
- display the create button

What I cannot work out is how to automatically define the member parent.

What I think I need is some sort of shortcode that enables me to embed the member_id in the member parent CRED field.

I can get this value via a VIEW as follows:

NORMAL VIEW
Members, ordered by post date, descending, limit to 1 item
Select posts with the author the same as the current logged in user

VIEW LAYOUT
Unformatted
Field= ID

Because I have a Member/user relationship I am able to select the relevant member record but what I cannot do is plant that value in the CRED form.

==========

member Parent

[cred_field field="_wpcf_belongs_member_id" value=""]

==========

What I am trying to achieve is a situation where the user does not need to select any parents to create the many to many relationship. To do so would involve selecting from 100+ clubs and 2000+ members!!

I hope that I have explained this sufficiently – any help much appreciated.

(I checked the book review example http://wp-types.com/documentation/user-guides/cred-forms-for-child-content/ but this only handles the pre-selection of the book – I assume that to identify the reviewer, the user needs to select themselves from the list of reviewers)

Tony

Dear Michale,

There is no need to add the fields to the layout, this is only used to build the default Meta HTML that you will be replacing anyway. Just choose the post types and paste the code above in the layout Meta HTML. The actual layout of each row is controlled by 2 View Template in my example: "Company row template" and "Company row template"

Please let me know if you are satisfied with my answer and if I can help you with any other questions you might have.

Caridad

Thanks Caridad. Variable products aren't the solution because I am unable to include a long description, plus it shows in a drop down box, whereas I would want them all visible, perhaps with a radio button to choose then click the add to cart.

It seems as though what I'm asking for is probably not available with WooCommerce.

Thanks for your help

Dear Hassan,

Sorry, my mistake, many thread in one time.

Could you provide me some info?
1. Screenshot from edit group page. Opened checkbox field.
2. Copy text from checkbox custom field. Edit post->custom fields->checkbox.
(if you not see custom fields box, activate it manually : Top/Right button Screen options -> Custom Fields)

Please let me know if you are satisfied with my answer and if I can help you with any other questions you might have.
Regards,
Gen.
